In 2016, the Danish Design Centre and the Confederation of Danish Industry (DI) mapped the use of design in Danish companies. This year is the second time that we together with Epinion conduct the survey, Design Delivers, and that makes it possible to compare the use of design in Danish companies over time.
In general, there is a high degree of stability in the results from 2016 to 2018. That being said, several of the results point to a development in the use of design that highlights the need for more knowledge on design unfolds in the Danish companies. A total of 802 companies have participated in the survey.
54% of Danish companies state that they use design systematically
75% of these experience that design has a positive impact on the economic bottom line. For the companies that use design strategically, the number is 92%
50% experience that design has had a growing impact on the economic bottom line over the last five years
64% expect that design will become a more important competitive factor over the next five years
79% experience that design strengthens their brand
67% experience that design strengthens their competitive factor
65% experience that design increases customer satisfaction
77% state that decisions about design are made at the top executive level
