As COO of the Danish Design Centre, Sune Knudsen has the primary responsibility for the organisation’s internal life and organisational performance. Sune oversees the continuous development and implementation of the DDC’s strategy and ensures that the DDC’s projects and programmes are aligned. As HR director, Sune is also responsible for ensuring that the DDC always has the necessary in-house competences required to realize the strategy.
Sune Knudsen has experience from both the private and public sectors and NGOs. For the past nine years, he has worked at the intersection of design, innovation and strategy in both national and international contexts, developing initiatives, project, policies, methods and institutions with a particular emphasis on involving and generating an impact for clients and users. His previous employments include Implement Consulting Group, the Danish Business Authority, the Danish Ministry of Employment, Defence Command Denmark and MindLab.
Sune has extensive management experience, and for several years he has both developed and headed units working with design and innovation. Sune has also been responsible for strategy development and implementation in several organisations, at group level and in business units, and has been involved in developing performance management systems as well as project and programme organisations. Sune has in-depth knowledge of business policies especially how they are developed in interaction with private companies.
Sune holds a master’s degree in political sciences from the University of Copenhagen and has co-authored two books on change in the public sector, including "Sæt borgeren i spil. Sådan involverer du borgere og virksomheder i offentlig innovation" (Citizen involvement. Involving citizens and companies in public innovation). He is much in demand as a speaker, both in Denmark and abroad.
